The skies have fascinated mankind for millennia. Yet the discoveries of the last few decades of a universe are much more vast and wonderful than anything our fathers and forefathers could have imagined.
We have studied the planets in our solar system and have considered the number of planets far beyond our part of the universe. We have also studied stars in addition to our own sun, as well as the billions of galaxies that contain them. Recently we have studied the historical development of astronomy in order to appreciate how modern ideas have arisen.
Geology enables us to appreciate the very special attributes of planet earth and existence of life in the universe. Again we have studied the history of geological thinking so that such extraordinary ideas as drifting continents can be fully appreciated.
No previous knowledge in astronomy or geology is required to join this group.
